Jess with her gorgeous girls
Have you ever met someone and thought…”I want what they’re having!” Jess Sonners is that person…she is like sunshine on a rainy day! Jess completed HH’s Metabolic Precision group nutrition program in May. A mother of 3 who runs her own business – has been getting compliments from others, her energy levels have gone through the roof and she is kicking some big goals! So I had to ask Jess a few questions about her MP journey to find out more…
How has MP changed your eating?
I remember first deciding to sign up for Metabolic Precision, a close girlfriend said, “I can not believe you are doing this course, you cook all the time!” Looking back I was definitely spending a great deal of time in the kitchen trying my hardest to cook up healthy meals for 5 people including myself. Since MP everything has changed. I spend a lot less time in the kitchen. I love my time cooking and we eat many, many more nutritious meals. I love that I’m so much more organized and can easily access a yummy meal from the freezer or fridge and it’s usually ready in 5 minutes. We eat a great variety of foods and many foods that we would have not previously justified the cost such as fresh salmon, now understanding all the benefits, along with many other vegetables, seeds and proteins that I really had no idea about the affects it can have on your body and mind. I definitely eat more, eat less fat, eat less sugar, eat more often, eat more variety and eat specific meals at specific times depending on my activities during the day.
How has it changed your training?
I really like the MP 10 Point training system, it works really well if you want to start changing your body, it certainly was the first time I had some direction with training planning. My training now feels more integrated with my food, family, work and satisfaction. I still love to do my favourite classes but I mix it up with all the other classes, weights and especially ice classes and have a basic understanding of the benefits on your body. My energy levels have gone through the roof, more so recently, I think like anything that’s good for you, if you stick with it, the benefits keep coming and coming! Just last week I pushed out a continuous run of 14km and easily could have kept going (furthest I have ever ran)! Part of the reason for doing the MP Course, was to run the Burnie 10 this year and was hoping to be fit enough to make the whole distance and it’s completely amazed me how far I have come.
What benefits have you noticed?
Personally I feel happy all of the time! That’s probably been the best benefit, feeling really happy with the decisions I make, for not only myself but my family in regards to food. Deep down I feel I’m giving myself and my family the best shot with health in life and that just makes me feel good.
Professionally I feel excited about my future. Signing up for MP, was a great decision in my professional life. I do want to be successful in whatever I do and I feel like this is part of that success.
What are some of your goals?
My most recent goal is to run the point to pinnacle (21km up Mt Wellington). I’m so happy I’m doing this, I had thought about it many times and I don’t think I ever thought I would actually enter. Part of the entry was to raise funds for a charity – my goal was to raise $700 for Australian Red Cross and I just achieved that last week. Happy! I wouldn’t be doing this event if it wasn’t for MP giving me the confidence and tools, so thanks also MP!
And her grown up son…taller than Mum already!
