Hey I figure if you send out a blog on your birthday it will help everyone to remember and you’ll get more presents right? Haha !!
So just before I get into the crux of this blog I have to tell you a couple of true stories that happened on Sunday. My very giving daughter had thought (as we were going into the city anyway) that both her and Riley should do some shopping for my birthday. This is how it panned out…
Mum “I think if we both got $20 we could buy you something really nice” explains Maya. There is nothing like handing over money so someone can buy you a present but think to myself it’s so nice that she’s thinking of me!
She points out a top to me that on first glance thinks I would like and goes, “what about this one Mum?” And then adds “Oh no, that one’s a bit YOUNG for you!”
My son Riley says, “Mum, I just want to make you something for your birthday (ahhhh so precious of him and I feel my heart swirl with love) only for him to add “so can I have the $20 anyway?”
True stories, kids – you’ve got to love their honesty/brutality! But you know I’ve decided getting older is actually pretty damn good! These are the things that have become better in my 43rd year:
- I do not have any injuries, not one, not even any aches or niggles
- I feel great getting out of bed and I cant wait to get to work
- I’ve started running again – OK not back to the times of my 20s YET but hey, I’m enjoying the challenge and the body is pulling up really well (I’ve even been doing sprint sessions)
- I’m stronger than I’ve EVER been. Yes you heard it right, I can now do around 18 perfect pull ups (chin ups); around 25 perfect dips; dead lift easily more than double my body weight and squat about 25% above body weight
- My degenerative lower back and neck NEVER cause me grief
- I’ve found a natural butt lifter (it’s called the dead lift) – do few programs with this in it and your booty will stop dropping!
Not bad for a 44 year old…all credit to changing my training (I’m actually training less but smarter)and nutrition (I’m actually eating more but also more nutritiously) with Metabolic Precision.
By the way, I’ve also realised I like heading out for a night out warm and comfortable and that is so OK! Sometimes not showing any skin can be sexy right? I have more crinkles, need to get my hair coloured more often but you know what being 44 is really OK – if this year continues to be as inspiring as the last, I say bring it on!
PS I’m so going to go and buy that top…and I’m going to look awesome in it! Haha – have a good one!
