“My doctor told me I have to lose 40kgs!”
I often have clients come to me with similar statements.
Regardless of your stance on body image and loving your body no matter what size you are – carrying too much fat and being 40kgs (or more) over weight is not good for your health, your self-esteem or your quality of life. Simple things, like getting up from the floor or having the energy to get through a day often become very difficult. If you’re spending all your time sitting on your butt watching life, be honest…that’s NOT living – that’s being a spectator!
Let’s face it a big goal, like having to lose 40kgs is for many so far into the distance that it seems impossible. Within weeks or sometimes even days of trying to make change, old habits come back, no matter how good the original intention. It isn’t easy, it requires persistence and hard work…but it’s not impossible!
That’s why we work with our clients on changing their habits – we know that is the answer to long term health and fat loss. To truly have success we have to create a “new normal” that becomes part of what we do – not for a month, not for six months BUT the rest of their lives. I am sure you know someone, or maybe you have yourself, dramatically lost weight one year only to have it come back on, with extra the next. The plan wasn’t sustainable, it didn’t change habits, it DIDN’T WORK!
Recently one of our clients who is on a journey of weight loss reached 2 smaller goals:
- She got to throw out one size of clothing (never going back there again!)
- She was able to take off her rings for the first time in 5 years!
Milestones? You betcha! Is she where she wants to be? No, not yet and if she was I would be concerned. Dramatic weight loss is not what we are about at HH.
